Preparatory Norwegian Language Course 
This one year undergraduate study programme provides the student with knowledge of the Norwegian language, literature and culture. Upon successful completion of the programme, the student has achieved the necessary Norwegian language requirements for admission to
Norwegian universities or university colleges. The applicant need to document that he or she meets the general entrance requirements to study at a university or university college.

Arctic Nature Guide – Longyearbyen, Svalbard
This integrated and interdisciplinary program is based on components from the fields of tourism, outdoor life and natural sciences. The target group contains people who work as or who aspire to become guides in Svalbard, on the Norwegian mainland, or elsewhere in the circumpolar region.

 

The program provides a professional qualification in outdoor life and tourism, more specifically nature guiding in Svalbard and other polar regions. This qualification is also in demand on the mainland within outdoor life, tourism, education, cultural and environmental administration, and voluntary organisations.

 

The 1 year program Arctic Nature Guide is a joint venture between Svalbard Reiseliv AS, Universitetssenteret på Svalbard (Svalbard University Centre) and Høgskolen i Finnmark (Finnmark University College).

Master in Tourist Studies

The master programme is designed to prepare students for career entry or positions in commercial, public, or non-profit organisations providing visitor service at the local, national or international level. The programme also provides students with necessary academic foundations to proceed to a PhD.

 

The programme provides a scientific understanding of travel and tourism, which is to be implemented in a master thesis. it also emphasises research ethics and the development of analytical critical thinking.

Bachelor of Rock 'n' Roll Entrepreneurs

The Bachelor of Rock 'n' Roll Entrepreneurs is designed to enable musicians and others with an interest in working in the field of music business and similar creative occupations, to establish and run their own businesses. The curriculum includes subjects concerning economics, marketing, law and management, combined with a hands-on approach to entrepreneurship preparing also the students for managerial employment in the private or public services.

 

Through the programme, the students will work on inter- and multidisciplinary cases, with an in-depth orientation towards their own field of interest. A key-point is the establishment and management of real student-owned businesses from the 4th semester and throughout the programme.
