This integrated and interdisciplinary program is based on components from the fields of tourism, outdoor life and natural sciences. The common denominator in the joint venture is the guide, who functions as the producer of experiences for guests in Svalbard’s nature. By focusing on the role of counsellor/guide based on the values of outdoor life, the program will enable the students to lead tourists through safe experiences of high quality. On top of this, the knowledge of Arctic natural sciences, local nature conditions and cultural monuments will provide the guides with a global environmental perspective.
