The Canadian student Shawn Jantzen thought he came to a sleepy little town, but he was wrong. Read his story from his semester
as an exchange student in Alta at Finnmark University College.
Some of the highlights he mentioned were the classroom milieu: "My classes consisted of Natural Resource Management, Regional Economics, and my personal favourite Winter Outdoor Life Activities. These classes have a relaxed atmosphere and the students are very involved in the discussions and class activities".

| My name is Nikolai Tarkaev, I'm from Yakutsk, the capital of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) - one of the Russian Federation's subjects. If you look at the map you will find my native town at the North-Eastern part of Russia. I have chosen the Finnmark University College for my study because I'm really interesting in Arctic regions destiny in developing world, and I think that the best way to research a problem is to go to the North! The international program I studied here provided the following subjects: Destination development, International marketing, Autumn outdoor life activities, and Norwegian history and culture. All was very interesting, and I'm sure that knowledge I've got here will be useful for my future studies. What about social life, I had not any time to be tormented by idleness at all! Theme evenings for international students, trips and excursions made us fun and helped us do pass an adaptetion process. |
