Finnmark University College

Finnmark is the largest county in Norway. Finnmark University College is located in Alta and in Hammerfest, two towns at 70 degrees north. Both towns have a wide range of urban activities like cafes, cinemas, shopping, and concerts in addition to easy access to Europe’s last wilderness.

 

Finnmark University College offers several courses taught in English. If you choose to be a student at our institution, you’ll be one of 1800 students.

The facilities are modern and with sophisticated technical/ IT infrastructure. Finnmark University College is known for its compact locations and the informal student oriented learning environment.

Historical students

Pioneering Bachelor of Northern Studies graduates.

 

For the very first time, Finnmark University College together with Russian partner universities organized ceremonies for students who have completed Bachelor of Northern Studies. This happened in Murmansk, Russia, where 21 students received their diploma for completed studies. Read more.

 

 

Barents Cross-Border Academic Cooperation

Increased cooperation between Finnmark University College and Murmansk State Humanities University (MSHU) is gaining ground.

 

A delegation of MSHU representatives visited Alta between 5th and 8th March to discuss future cooperation on different study programs. This was a revisit to the Finnmark University College's board meeting in Murmansk in November 2011 where the boards members met with the MSHU staff leaders and the rector.

 

 

International Day at the University College of Finnmark on Wednesday 15th February 2012.

 

The exchange students from the University College of Finnmark were in Glassgata on Wednesday 15th February in order to present their respected countries and home institutions to other students.

Here we can see Anastasia Bryzgalova from Murmansk, Vitaliy Punegov from Syktyvkar and Yuriy Voloshchuk from Ukhta.

 

The international students will show their cook talents during the Eurodinner organised on 21st February. They will prepare dishes from their own countries.

 

 

Record number of exchange students at the University College of Finnmark!

Not less than 32 exchange students have chosen to spend the Spring semester 2012 at the University College of Finnmark. The new-arrived students come from Russia, Germany, France, Croatia, the Netherlands and Italy.

The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) organised a waffle party for the international students a few days after their arrival. One of the ESN members, Bjarne Krogstad, who is also a media student, made a short-movie about this event, You can watch this movie here.

 

 

New Advanced Emphasis courses in Alta. An exchange semester at the University College of Finnmark

Three new advanced emphasis courses offered in English for international students at the campus during the autumn semester form the new AE program. "Arctic Innovation and Entrepreneurship". The program has recently been accepted as an AE program by University of the Arctic. Innovation Management, Transnational Strategy and Cross Border Entrepreneurship are all courses with a special focus on High North economic development. More information here.
